When my co-founders and I started Sunbit, we set out to do something different: to create a drastically more customer-centric, personalized way for people to pay for everyday expenses. For each of us, the origin story was slightly different: a terrible customer experience involving a humiliating and public denial of credit; a working class background nurturing a deep respect for honoring the hard work that goes into earning money; years of experience seeing gaps in fintech and financial services; a relentless desire to make life easier for people. But the unifying goal was to help people pay for life’s necessities so that they could focus on the important things in life.
Sunbit started off meeting people where they were: where unexpected costs often emerged, like the auto parts and service shop, the dentist, the eye doctor. There, we were able to help customers when they needed it, so they didn’t have to choose between cash flow and safety or well-being.
With more than $1B in transactions completed and nearly 14,000 locations later, we’ve made an impact. Customers have said “Thank you, Sunbit.” I’m proud of what Sunbit has done to relieve customers of everyday stresses — but we didn’t want to stop there.
We wanted to take our customer experience to the next level. We wanted to make more of an impact — on more customers.
And I am excited that we are making strides in that direction with the new Sunbit Card — a new kind of no-fee credit card that delivers the level of customer experience our customers have come to expect, coupled with a powerful mobile app that provides a unique set of controls and flexibility. With the Sunbit Card and mobile app, cardholders can manage how they pay for every transaction they make.
All with no late fees, no penalty fees, no membership fees, no application fees, and no fees to add or remove a transaction from a payment plan. They get all of this functionality at no-cost beyond their personalized interest rate.
We build products to support everyday Americans, and this one is no different. We heard our customers: they’re managing so many different transactions and forms of payment, all of which can make managing day-to-day finances tough. The Sunbit Card simplifies life by enabling all these types of transactions to be done on a single card. At the end of the month, when a customer reviews their statement, they can decide to change how they are paying for individual transactions — again, with no fees of any sort.
We’re excited about this card, as are the 65,000 loyal Sunbit customers who received early access to the card and are using it now. There are 400,000 additional consumers that we’re actively inviting to apply for the card. To get on the waitlist, all people have to do is sign up here or use Sunbit technology at any one of participating merchants that can be found here.
I’m excited about the future of Sunbit, and the ways that we can work together with consumers, retailers and point of sale providers to help everyone win.
The Sunbit Card is issued by TAB Bank, pursuant to a license from Visa U.S.A. Inc.
